Being a godparent

Almost 10 months ago my husband and I became godparents to the sweetest little boy (M).  What a great blessing and responsibility, being godparents.  It is not something we wanted to take lightly.  At M's baptism we promised to help his parents bring him up in our Catholic faith.  Now, our friends (M's parents) are strong in their faith.  They are a good Catholic couple, so our job isn't that hard but I don't want to be lazy.  It is important to me, and my husband that our godson always know we are there for him.  He doesn't live too far away, but far enough that we can't see him as often as we'd like.  So, I started asking myself what we could do for M so he knows we are always here.

I wanted to do something that has to do with our faith, something creative.  So, I asked my mom, who is a teacher. She suggested we do something with the saints. After brainstorming with my husband we decided that once a month we would send a letter to M telling him about a saint, a new one every month.  So, this month, being Valentines day we sent him his 1st letter telling him about St. Valentine.

So, I finally found something fun, creative and educational to help my growing godson.  I'm so very excited to continue. The hard part is picking the saints, there are so many amazing ones!
