It's right that everyone pay their fair share?

I could be really misunderstanding things, and I tend to do that when it comes to politics, but Obama's deficit plan seems to be a really bad move.

In today's Fox News article "unveiling" the new deficit plan I found out that basically that plan is about raising taxes to dig us out of debt. My favorite quote from the article reads "We can't just cut our way out of this hole. It's going to take a balanced approach. It's only right that we ask everyone to pay their fair share." I want to know how it's "only right" to ask everyone to pay their fair share, I realize we are one country, together, but I do not think it is in anyway fair to ask us to pay off our country's debt...says a fairly recent college graduate handling her own debt.

I leave it at that. If you are interested in reading the article you can find it here.

  1. I think if we cut funding to Planned Parenthood, that would save us a lot of millions, which would add up over the next several years. We can also cut funding to some theaters (which stage plays with horribly immoral content), and perhaps contraceptive coverage for everyone. There are a few ways in which we can further "cut our way out of this," Mr. President!

Then, taxes will be lower across the board. Oh, I also suggest stopping the bailouts of bad banks and regulating the functions of your own financial institutions, to prevent bad debt, Mr. President.

How about fewer vacations and more Presidential work, Barack? How about a major cut in your salary? It seems you are taking advantage of the accrued vacation time of all presidents in the history of this country!

Obama, get out of office and let someone with at least a basic understanding of how to run this country take your place.

Elizabeth, I think you are definitely onto something. I'm fine with shouldering my fair load, but when we are funding so many unnecessary, immoral, and frivolous things, I think that the problem lies more with what we're spending on than with how "little" we are already (apparently) paying in taxes!
